SILVERADO SENIOR LIVING BRINGS ITS NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED, AWARD WINNING EXPERTISE IN MEMORY CARE TO PLANO, TEXAS

Plano, Texas, August 18, 2005

Silverado Senior Living, Inc. will be opening the doors of their latest memory care community in Plano, Texas. Silverado will assume ownership of what is currently ActivCare at Gleneagles on or around August 1, 2005 and rename the community Silverado Senior Living – Plano. The community is located at 5521 Village Creek Drive, Plano, Texas 75093.

Silverado Senior Living, Inc. is a nationally recognized leader in providing specialized care for those with Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, vascular and other memory impairment diseases. Silverado offers a full continuum of services, providing care from earliest onset through end of life. Silverado currently operates 12 communities (1,021 beds) four in Houston Texas, seven in Southern California and one in Salt Lake City, Utah. Each community provides specialized long-term, short term and day services. Silverado also provides Home Care/Care management services in Southern California and Hospice services in Southern California and Salt Lake City, Utah. Care Management/Home Care and Hospice services will be added in Dallas sometime in the future.

“Silverado is very excited to be entering the Dallas market to bring life to those affected by Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s or any other memory impairing disease.” said Loren Shook, Founder, President and CEO of the company. “Silverado is driven by its mission, vision and core values and provides the highest quality care, in an attractive and stimulating environment. In addition Silverado has among the highest caregiver to resident ratios and full time nursing staff.

Silverado will be investing over three quarters of a million dollars on renovations and enhancements to the existing property. Some of the highlights include expanding the outside secure areas for residents to approximately 11,000 square feet with beautiful walking paths, gardens, a gazebo and a jungle gym for visiting children. Inside the community, everything from carpeting and wallpaper to lighting fixtures and furniture will be upgraded. Additionally, a signature of Silverado is the addition of beautiful and exotic Java wood “Memory Boxes” outside each resident room for family to fill with treasures, mementos, photographs, etc.

Silverado will also be adding numerous full time associates in order to duplicate the staffing model found in its other communities. A full time Registered Nurse will be added to direct the clinical care; full time licensed nurses will be added for 24 hour licensed nursing coverage, a full time Masters prepared social worker will be added along with additional activity staff and caregivers.

“The Silverado philosophy of care is exactly what separates us from other senior care communities” said Anne Ellett, RN, MSN, NP, Vice President of Clinical Services. Ellett stated, “Our goal with every one of our residents is to give them the very best quality of life. In addition to our high staffing, other elements of our philosophy of care include many live-in pets including dogs, cats, birds and fish. Residents are encouraged to bring their pets to live with them, even when they can no longer care for the animals themselves. Silverado also believes in the value of intergenerational programs and therefore staff may bring their children to work with them and families are encouraged to bring grandchildren and great grandchildren to enjoy time with their loved one.”
